THE IRAQ WAR

The Iraq War began in 2003 when a coalition force led by the USA invaded Iraq, on the grounds that Iraq was developing weapons of mass destruction. As the invasion and then the subsequent occupation progressed, the war became mired in controversy, largely as a result of the dearth of WMDs and rising death counts, both on the civilian Iraqi side and on the military coalition side. Check out the Iraq War Timeline for an in-depth analysis of the major events that led up to and have defined the course of the war.

GENERATION KILL

Generation Kill, written by Evan Wright, takes us on a visceral journey with the young killers of the First Recon Marine Battalion as they lead the initial invasion of Iraq. Aspiring filmmakers Conor Wuertz, Melecio Estrella, Parker Fritch, and Alex Lascher-Posner have created a pilot for a flim adaptation of the book.

VETERAN INTERVIEW

In order to gain a deeper understanding of the war, Wuertz, Estrella, and Asch R Po Ner arranged an interview with Iraq war veteran Bruce Burns.

WAR SONG ANALYSIS

In addition, we decided to reveal the public perception of the Iraq War by analyzing popular songs written in response to it: "Bomb the World" by Michael Franti and Spearhead, "Mosh" by Eminem, and "Hero of War" by Rise Against.
